Well here I am, finally starting this blog that I have been talking about for months! I am going to give you the short version of our story to catch you up to where we are in our lives now. I'm sure most of you know, I am Leila and my husband is Brett, and this is our blog "Happily Ever After". I know our lives are just starting but it feels like a fairy tale sometimes and that's why I named this blog the way I did.
It all started in April 2003 when I met my future husband (although we had no idea we'd end up together!). We were both dating other people but we were in the same circle of friends. So for months we were friends and hung out on a regular basis...until we both became single in November of 2003. Our mutual friends decided to set us up on a date, so on November 7th we had our first date and we have not spend a moment apart since! Since we were already friends our relationship moved quickly because we got to kind of skip the awkward "getting to know each other" part of dating. I think that we both realized early on that we had connected on a new level that neither of us had ever experience before. A year and a half later I graduated college and moved in with Brett and his roommate. A few months later we decided that we were ready to get our own place and we started looking for a house to rent. So in 2006 we moved into our first house together in the same neighborhood I grew up in... with my mom only 8 houses down the street. We started our life there...and on February 22nd, 2007 Brett popped the big question on a Caribbean cruise. And of course I said YES! I couldn't wait to spend the rest of my life with my best friend and the man who stole my heart from our first date! For the next 15 months we were in wedding planning mode! We were on a mission to plan the most spectacular day of our lives... and I think we can say that we DEFINITELY succeeded! May 10th, 2008 was by far the best day of our lives! We married at a gorgeous 3.5 acre garden that was just breathtaking. That day was followed by a week of pure bliss in Maui, Hawaii on our Honeymoon. Words cannot describe the absolute joy that filled our hearts for that week. We will never forget what it was like to be living in total happiness. Well that's enough for one night... it gets us started on Our Story. I'll be back soon to post pictures and continue with Part 2.
